Root Broke Power Button?

This is the second time my phones power button has stopped working. The button is clicking, its not stuck or anything, it just won't work. I think it happened right after I changed my screen timeout to 15 sec. I was thinking it could be the ROM. I'm using RCMix3D. Has anyone had this problem with their rooted phone? Or is there a code or something to just make the optical pad the new power button (that would be dope)?

There are mods that you can flash or apps in the market (widget locker) that will make the trackball wake, not power on, the phone. I would just try another ROM; it could definitely be a problem with the ROM itself.
