Broken Accelerometer?

I've had my EPIC for just over a week. All of a sudden the phone display won't go into landscape mode. It works if I slide the keyboard out, but then goes back to portrait once I close the keyboard. Just tilting the phone (in Email, Messaging or Browser) no longer rotates the display. I've tried pulling the battery, but that didn't help.

Is it possible the accelermometer is toast after one week?

u did check to make sure settings>sound & display>orientation is on right ? u didnt mention u did so . . .

Wow...Do I feel stupid...That was the problem. Thanks BlackNGold!

Didn't even think to look there as I never changed that setting. I wonder how it got switched off on its own?
