Help Broken Audio Jack?

Lurker
I am having trouble with my gn2. It does a very bad job of recognizing when ear buds or other audio out devices are plugged in. If I want to plug in ear buds it can take ten times plugging and unplugging them to get the phone to output audio through them. And even then the slightest jostling causes the phone to think the buds have been unplugged and whatever is playing to be paused.

This can be very annoying. If I am trying to play music in my phone through an aux cable the slightest bump in the road causes the sound to pause because it thinks I unplugged the cable. Does anyone have any idea what to do?

It sounds like something wrong with the jack. But to be sure, do the same audio cables work well with other devices? If other devices are displaying the same symptoms, cables could be bad (and ruling out anything wrong with the GN2).

Does a soft reset with the device fix the issue (power down and back on)?

If a soft reset fixes the issue, could be something wrong with the software. May need to resort to a hard reset back to factory defaults to get it going again.

However, if it doesn't than it could be hardware failure and will need to be brought in for repair.

Edit: if performing a hard reset; ensure all important data is backed up as that will wipe everything on the device.
