Help Broken charging port? On Ascend

Ok, so I bought a Huawei Ascend off somebody on craigslist.. He gave it to me fully charged, screen is intact, $70 bucks.

Soo I get home, I root the son of a clucker, install CM7 through TokeAndPoke's guide everything is 100%..

Until I see that my phone, although it says its charging, is not being charged.. I tried it charging it on the computer, nothing. It transfers files fine through the usb.. I tried charging it with a samsung usb wall outlet, nothing.. Went to metro to buy a charger and guess what... NOTHING!!

Anyways, since it's my business phone I absolutely have to get it running ASAP. So I stop by a ratshack (radio shack), tell the kind lady my problem, so she points me to the 'special of the week' which is a Universal battery charger, she tries it and it works with my battery

This thing set me back $35, but its working! And I plan on returning it within 30 days, and get this charger + battery for $25

Good idea or not? Any suggestions before taking a second plunge?

Charged battery on universal charger. Phone works, now if I plug it into a wall outlet, it says charging, but its actually looses battery faster when plugged in..

I know its pretty much going to be unfixable or cost a lil much..

When all else fails. Go with radioshack. Although i did see a universal charger that fit the ascend in walmart for 5dollars. Not sure if itll work but its worth a try. If it works then itll be a save to your wallet. And of course if it doesnt work just go back and get your 5dollars.

Even though the port fits perfectly into the phone, doesn't mean it's the right charger.
