For the last few weeks, my Evo 4g touch screen was not sensing properly. Intermittently I couldn't unlock the screen, use the "a" button when typing and there was poor sensing to a thin strip across the screen. It was becoming a major headache.
I thought it was because I was rooted, so I tried flashing a new ROM - no fix. So then I unrooted and went back to stock software - no fix!
So I took my Evo (unrooted, just like new) into the local sprint store. I had to demonstrate how the screen wasn't sensing. Within 1 hr they replaced the screen for me... and for only $35 since I was still within the 1yr manufacturer's warranty. If I had paid for the warranty coverage (~$5-10 a month) then it would have been free. Not sure what would have happened if I was >1yr from purchase date.
Prior to this I had searched the forum and saw similar descriptions of broken touch screens, but no one posted just how it was fixed. I thought I'd share this with people who may be experiencing similar problems.
Now my Evo 4g works like new - perfect touch sensing!
