If my Droid is flashed to Cricket without any other major changes ?

I am a noob when it comes to flashing but have been researching this extensively and am trying to grow the balls to update my Droid on my own instead of paying someone to do it and hoping they don't trash my phone.

But there are so many steps.

If I could just update mine to Froyo with a new ROM that would be so awesome.
