Where did you get the phone? What Browser? Did you add the browser? Did you add any apps from other than either Play or Amazon?
That sounds like a hijacked web page. I wouldn't use the browser at all.

I'd do a reset and get rid of that browser and find a legitimate one here.

Run the Ad Network Detector app. Some of these "free" apps change your home page as a form of advertising

Cheers for replying. I got my phone brand new a year n 3 months ago ive not long done a reset. I rooted it 4-5 months ago and have had no problems. I will try that network detector and let you know.
I used to use dolphin which ran perfectly and then stopped working so went back to the original browser. I only install apps off playstore but i do download alot of stuff to my phone from torrent.

Ill try it and post back :)

On the PC, that stuff can be hard to get rid of. It happens when people mistype a URL or follow a dicey link. It could be hiding in the browser files and wouldn't show.
You can also get something similar by not reading the TOS and unchecking all boxes.
Babelfish and the Ask toolbar get installed this way.

Uninstall the browser, reset the phone, and try a different browser recommended from here. And read the TOS of what you are downloading.

Don't reinstall apps in one fell swoop, either. Stuff like Play that is reliable, OK. Otherwise install one by one, let them sit, and see what happens before installing another.

I got a full screen ad from one weather app - never had that kind of ad before. Uninstalled both trial apps, and ad disappeared. I tried AdFree since I'm rooted, and it showed nothing.

This.

And just to add something the OP posted "but i do download alot of stuff to my phone from torrent." Try to avoid doing this in future, otherwise you could be back to square one or worse.

Thanks for help people i will try what you have suggested. Just very strange it is almost like ive mistyped google one day and it got stuck. I dont think its trying to open a malicious page because nothing actually loads and a google search of goolgle doesnt show anything either.

Fingers crossed i will fix it but resetting my phone is a last resort.
And as for the torrent downloading i mainly download films from a website ive used for years.

Thanks again peeps

Even if a website doesn't open, doesn't mean the URL doesn't get recorded somewhere. You can fudge almost anything by code.
Spate of parked places collecting IP addresses to sell to spammers.

Yh i know what you mean just doesnt seem like something that would usually effect me. im a computer technician and always keep my tech clean and have owned an android phone for 4 years with no problem and yet this is the wierdest thing to ever happen to me. Ive hit a snag with reinstalling the browser. Its the phones original browser and cant be uninstalled. As im rooted is there a way i can do it? Im resorting to chrome at the moment but hate the lack of buttons.
Also does anyone know what the cpu gentle fair sleepers does in STweaks? I run my phone at 1800mhz o/c but there are some things i dont want to touch as i got stuck in a boot loop once.....never again -_-

Thanks

I beleive ive found a fix. After not being succesful i done a search of google and found a forum where other people have had the same problem in the last week. Turns out it is a problem with one of the GOlauncher/locker/sms apps. Contacting the developers results in a fixed version of the app that rids the browser problem. But on the other hand i cant see why a launcher locker or sms app should feck up my browser home page.
Going to try the fixed version now.
