Help Browser zoom?

I can't seem to adequately zoom in to web pages (desktop view) with this phone. When I double tap on a website it barely zooms in. In portrait I can't read the text. Is this a Samsung thing (double tap not really working)?
I'm coming from an HTC so Samsung/Touchwiz is new to me. What's the point of zooming from unreadable to barely readable?
Does anyone have a suggestion for a fix? I looked in "accessibility" but nothin'.
Any ideas?

Turn phone to landscape mode. I pinch and spread to get it like I want it.

Download a 3rd party browser like Dolphin.... Zoom in as much as you want then double tap and the text will re wrap like the stock htc browser.
