Help browsers crashing

I am having issues with both the stock browesr and Dolphin crashing within minutes of opening them. It happens with any website, including this one.

I am running a rooted stock rom with a chevyno1 OC kernel. Any ideas?

Several questions that may help...

When did it start (after installing a new program or such)? Was it shortly after or within days of flashing the kernel? Do you have a backup that you can flash back to that resolves the problem? Also have you tried clearing the data and cache from the browsers?

This is a starting point and will help us figure out how best to help you. :)

thanks for the reply, skilaufen. :)

i cant really say exactly when it started. The phone i have was a replacement for a damaged unit. When i got this one, i took the OTA update to 2.2.1, and then used a method posted here to root, using Terminal Emulator. I found and installed chevyno1's low-V, 1.2 Ghz kernel almost immediately, so im not sure if i have a backup that will allow me to revert.

I did try multiple times to clear the data and cache from both browsers, with no change.

I will look for a Nandroid backup, and post back here with what i find.

strange...i reverted to a couple of backups i had (one before the kernel install, and one after), and the crashes have stopped. i even came back to my most recent setup (backed up everything before i reverted) and all seems well. im going to browse the hell out of it for the next couple days and see if anything changes. cant explain why it started working again.

I'm glad it worked out and that you had a backup. I make backups before every kernel install. Some kernels can take several days before developing problems. Let us know how it works out.:)

If you was running 1200 for your OC speeds Then this was your problem. I know my droid if I OC to 1200 my browser would crash. So I throttled back to 1100 and no more crashes. These droids are all different. Some can do things others cant. But supposedly its the same phone.
