Browsing network device from Captivate

Noobie question - I have a Buffalo Linkstation network attached storage device attached to my wireless router. What do I have to do to access the files on the Linkstation via my wifi connection. Or is it even possible?

First, connect your Captivate to your wifi

Second, Open up the Samsung Allshare app

Third, click on the option that should say "server to phone" or something like that

You should be able to see the Link station now.


I have and use one at home myself and it works flawlessly

AllShare is only for media files though, right? I want to have access to all my files on the Linkstation. Is that possible?

Actually, AllShare is only for DLNA.

ES File Explorer and Astro File Manager both support network shares.

Next question - how do I open files on the linkstation, other than media and text files? PDF, for instance. If I click on one, I get a message - Sorry, no application available - even though I have Adobe Reader and Quickoffice installed.

I think most Android pdf apps are limited to like 1MB in size.

I just copied a 2.4MB PDF to my Captivate and opened it fine in Adobe Reader.
