So my roommate and good friend came home yesterday with a new Kindle Fire because he was tired of being the only one out of our groups of friends without an Android device. We immediately rooted it, installed Google Play Store, and basically made it a completely new tablet which I was surprised to find was quite speedy and impressive. The whole ordeal got me thinking about how much I would love a tablet and here I am haha.
Basically I'm looking for something budget(ish) which is under $350 and preferably under $300. I consider myself an Android power user as I have, and absolutely love, my Motorola Atrix so whichever tablet I get I will most assuredly do whatever is necessary to get the full Android experience. In the case of the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet this would mean rooting but I have no qualms about doing so.
Anyways, I thought at first I would pick from either the Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet since they are high value - low price tablets and I've done a lot of research on both. However, I then found some of the slightly older Android tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7' had dropped some in price so now I'm lost.
Would it be better for an Android power user like myself to get a slightly older tablet like the Tab which has dropped in price, or get a new Kindle / Nook which I would have to root in order to get everything I want?
