build.prop editing

just bought this yesterday but already having a blast with it. Also just to let you guys know you can change the shutter sound to off in build.prop (ro.camera.sound.forced) and change the font w/o any ill effects. I did it through rom toolbox pro without issue and I have the virgin mobile version of the phone

Seeing if anyone else have messed with theirs yet

I'm not familiar with the build.prop file. Is it a file you simply open and edit and save?

If so, will I change it to say "ro.camera.sound.forced=off"?

On my LG Optimus Elite, someone put out an empty sound file and you just renamed the OEM camera sound file and copied the empty one of the same name in it's place to silence the camera.

In short, yes

From previous endeavors i've learned that the build.prop file in system root holds details to properties of your phone (LCD density, forced camera shutter sound etc) its device specific.

In the past I had an epic 4g touch and changed the build.prop file the way you mentioned opened edited and saved, I used i believe a txt editor app and it didn't save it properly and put me into a boot loop, since this phone has no custom recovery yet I wouldn't recommend doing it that way

I was just confirming that rom toolbox pro will let you edit that setting as well as changing the font. replacing the shutter sound with a empty audio file I have seen work on some devices but I havent confrimed that method on this phone yet. That way is also less destructive and reversable than editing the build.prop file

Thank you man. That was one thing I missed about my Elite .... no camera sound. Now I have the silence back again.

Little late on this but ROM Toolbox can GTH. It bricked my VM phone. Doing a font swap. This phone is pretty nice and when I get my replacement they will be getting a burned samsung back in the mail ;) Im using a 2nd init bootloader right now and am fixing to re debloat this thing

Lg f3 camera app already has this under the menu scroll down to pic and chose the voice shutter pick none and you will have silence. I've had this phone for a good 2 weeks "including a broken screen replaced and fixed by me" and still love this phone other than limited internal storage and lack of updates I still love this phone

The camera app that comes on the Virgin Mobile F3 does NOT have "None" under Shutter sound.
