Root build.prop issues :/

I edited the build.prop of my virgin mobile f3 optimus and now I'm getting some weird issues:

-lock screen changed to an old format
-all ringtones are the same default one no matter what you pick
-copy/paste functions lost
-some overlays not showing up
-other options won't save
-old boot screen
-updates cause crashes

I tried to restore but the issues are still there. I tried the lg mobile utility but that didn't work. I think what I did was open the build.prop with the wrong text editor so it saved weird. Does anyone know a fix for this. I've looked through the forums and found people who stumbled on but they didn't explain the fix (ie how to replace the build.prop file or format it again properly.)

Thank you in advance.

Just push the build.prop from one of the forum roms.

Is the op rooted and did op make sure the edit to the build.prop stick . some devices when you edit the build.prop you need to make sure the permission is set correct , you then need to run it from the android Linux script and then reboot the device . you need a Es root explorer to complete action

Permissions are fine. I think I opened the build.prop with the wrong text editor... like trying to edit code with MSword or something. All my text programs look exactly the same.

For future reference use Notepad ++ (you can google it) for text editing and you want a Linux/Unix format when saving a file for Android. Notepad ++ has auto-format, btw.

I did messed up with the build.prop too, but I am not able to get the phone started. It is stuck just after the LG logo and before the Virgin, so I am not able to restore the original file (which I is on the phone). Any ideas on how to replace it?

Boot into recovery and replace it from there.

I have rooted the phone, but has not installed a recovery. The default recovery does not allow me to connect via USB. Do I need to install a custom recovery? Which one? THanks.

You won't be able to install a custom recovery now. You'll need to use the "unbrick" guide... Sorry.
