Build quality?

Has anyone noticed that the build quality of the Droid is a bit shoddy? Maybe its just me.

But my power button is very loose/wiggly, and the screen tends to wiggle a bit when the keyboard is hidden. That and some of the buttons on the screen seem to be only partially lit by LEDs.

i think the build quality is very good. the wiggly buttons don't bother me. the weight and tightness of the phone are very nice IMO.

almost completely metal chasis, glass screen, tight slider... one of the best build qualities out there in terms of sturdiness. my only gripe is the paint used can chip off so easily and everywhere but the screen is prone to scratches (counting 3 marks so far 10 days into owning it, my friend has 2 as well about a week of owning it). but the build quality as far as functionality is sound IMO

With the tight tolerances built into the phone everywhere else, I wonder if the buttons were engineered with a fair amount of play, so they won't actually activate as phone is put in, and taken out of, "stuff" (cases, docs, pockets, etc)

So far the quality seems quite good. The design is a bit strange in areas but the quiality is good. If you want to see some poor build quality or deisgn check out the Pre. Great looking but the Oreo effect seems to hit all of them. So far my Droid is solid and looks to stay that way.

wait... seriously? the screen is awesome against scratches compared to a LOT of other touchscreen smartphones. (watch: YouTube - Motorola Droid Scratch Test)

but i second everything else you say. this phone has great build quality for having a HUGE touchscreen with a sliding keyboard.

Some of you guys need to take better care of your droid. Mine is naked and carried in my pocket and I've yet to scratch the case.

I think some people just go out of their way to find things to complain about. My Droid is rock solid and doesn't seem to suffer from any of the problems you describe. It is hands down the most well-made phone I have ever owned.

ok.

i disagree. why? see above video.

classic "out of context" quote.
he said "everywhere "but" the screen is prone to scratches"

Metal won't scratch glass the way he did it in the video. Do that to your window in your house/apt/shanty and you get the same result: no scratches. Get a bit of sand in your pocket, however, and it's game over.

I find the build quality pretty high. Except the camera button, which really just wobbles and rattles -- it's pretty loose.

I'm thinking if it were "tighter", it would take pictures during daily handling. At least if you fat-finger it, you won't turn on camera mode.
