Build quality

I just want to get a general idea as to what users feel about the build quality of the Xperia S? For the moment I am still waiting to get mine, hence why I am asking? Was it better than you expected, or are you left disappointed? Many have commented that it has a premium feel and feels nice to the touch.

Your thoughts please.

Yes, feels good, strong and sturdy with apremium feel. Slight rough edges round the battery cover but otherwise ok. Feels better than a Samsung but not as good as a HTC! Hope this helps.

Feels top quality with no noises coming from the housing. It has rough edges though which the bottom corner digs into my hand. Overall I like it but is abit too big for my jacket pocket.

i get that where it digs into your hand with the bottom corner! really annoying, but the phone feels high quality and i have got it in white it looks really smart.

cant wait for icecream sandwich, this is my first android phone and Gingerbread is pretty good, much more interesting to use than iphone OS, i found the iphone boring almost instantly.

I read two reviews that both said the Xperia S suffers from case creak. I've had mine for a few days and I can safely say that it is very nicely put together and does NOT creak. Perhaps the reviewers had an axe to grind.

Same here, no creak for me, had it over a week now and like it better than Samsung and definitely more than my old IP4, I was forever scared about breaking the back or front glass which I managed to do by having the phone in my pocket and just simply resting against a chair, I had to buy another back literally weeks before selling it, only had the thing 8 mths.

I'm holding off writing my review until I've used it for a while - rather than joining the rat race that is getting a review published as quickly as possible to get a high page ranking!

I've not had any creaking as yet. I've also been able to properly play around with the camera and I am finding it to be very good, but more than the image quality is the speed at which you can fire up the camera - which might be more important!

I've noticed with the camera, shots look much better on the phone then they do on the computer.

I don't like port covers at all, but they're quite easy to get back on. I don't think they'll fall off unless you get really annoyed with them and tear/cut them off.

Port covers do serve a purpose (useful in the rain) but you then have the 3.5mm jack exposed on the top which defeats the object!!
