Root Building a Sense Rom.

Now i know there's an old sense rom on here, but its very outdated. Ive decided im going to make my own and have a newer one on here so people dont have to dig around for a sense rom(not talking bad about the rom). So far i have an htc boot ani, an exact sense status bar, fonts, etc etc. I have been working on the launcher. It will be froyo, but it is a fixed version of it so no bugginess.:D You wont even be able to tell.

If anybody wants to help, just tell me.

Ive been having some trouble with the launcher. Is there anybody that wants to help and can help?

EDIT: Let me ask this while i remember. I used UOTK for a couple things. But when I flash the rom it only flashes framework, bootani, and...another uot thing. But wont flash the boot.img or anything else. (Basically, i have to flash the stock rom first, then the rom i built.) Any ideas on how to get it to flash normally? Sorry im kind of a n00b at all this:o

Froyo? If you were to make and updated Sense rom, why not make it GB? I have a decent PC, I could boot up one of my linux's and try to help if I can. PM me, I wouldn't mind seeing this done :)

Well i was thinking about that, maybe build off of cm7 or something else that is working good. I just thought that since froyo had everything, including hdmi, that would be better. But yeah GB would probably be better. Ill pm ya when i fix my computer.

For a launcher, check out LP Sense UI. No longer available on Play store, but it still floats around out there...looks legit and works well

Lol i actually have that on both my phones lol. I use it in addition with sense cm7 theme when i want sense. I do the same with touchwiz.:D

Guys do you know what phone(other than the thunderbolt) i could get a sense rom from, where i wouldnt have to change density, etc etc? Thunderbolt sense is 400mb and i dont get good enough internet to dl all that? I just need to know one that 1.is close to our phone. And 2. Is stock sense.
Thanks

Would it be just parts that you need? I could SL the ROM and extract it and post up the parts you want.

That would work great. I was like 400mb holy crap. If you could get them from the newest ota for the thunderbolt(i thinks its a rootswiki link)post them using dropbox or something that would help alot.
Well lets see what we got here... i need.
1. boot.img
2. Whole "system/usr"

Thats about it. If i think of anything else ill let you know.
Thanks

Are you following Rukin's guide at [GUIDE] How I port - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com (second post)? If you are I believe you need the whole Sense ROM, and you use the boot.img and system/usr from one of our CM7 ROMs in the Sense ROM. I think it's awesome that you're doing this though, I've always wanted to port sense, but I've never had the time.

Ah crap. Read my thing wrong. No i got it off of...xda i believe. But the reason i asked was because i dont have the speeds to download 400mb completely. If there was another phone where i still could just follow the guide without changing anything else, and the stock sense rom wasnt 400mb, i was hoping someone could point me towards it.

Ok guys i think i have what i need to do it. Ill see what i need to do and if it boots. Ill post it and let you guys help with getting stuff working.

Sorry, I should have mentioned it earlier. Could you post a link to the ROM you want?

Personally, I have never heard of either Sense or Motoblur being port-ed. I thought they were closed source? Either way, this should be interesting. warrior12, If this project could be finished, how about a Motoblur port? Now THAT I would love to see! Ya know, Motorola and all ;)

The thing about porting ROMs is that you can't change every last detail. What you end up doing is extracting the parts to a semi-cryptic language and working with specific parts. Like if you wanted to change an icon, you would hunt down the icon in the .apk and load your own icon and name it what ever it was named in the .apk. Then recompile it.

I understand that part, as there must be specific changes to work properly on our phone, as with any port on any phone. But, like I said, I thought those ROM's were closed, as in we can't even begin to extract anything out of them? Or am I mistaken?

Well you can easily download a sense ota for a phone(example: the Thunderbolt) if it has been posted on the internet. I call that open. If somebody from htc wants to say their work is closed, well, they should get on the internet more.:D

Point your browser to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535715 Anything is possible man, and BSydz latest PA build is a testament to that. Motorola hates our phone and left us stranded on froyo? Tickerguy and isaacj got us into GB-land. Closed Source Camera Drivers? No problem, BSydz has us covered. With the right devs, you can do anything.

Haha true! Then I will learn about porting as much as I can and maybe port Motoblur myself!
