Root Building stock Rom

Right now I'm trying to get my esteem back to stock ZVD and I'm running into a bit of trouble. My first option was to simply restore my backup I made of rooted stock zvd, but I got md5 mismatches -_- Then I tried using gbiggie's advanced restore method using the stock zvd files, and again, md5 mismatches! I know that you can downgrade to ZVB/C and then upgrade again, but I don't really have access to a windows comp... so I downloaded the source code from LG website and got the aosp code required. Have any of you ever built stock? And if you have how is it different from an out of the box esteem?

why exacly do you need to return to stock? BrokenOut Esteem is a stock deodexed rom with root. you can flash that and then just delete superuser and you will be practicably on stock...

I've been trying to do this...i actually had a build that successfully compiled but when i flashed it i had statusbar fc hell...I've been taking a break from it now. It did actually look pretty cool and it was just the vanilla gingerbread launcher but with the fc's that's all i was able to do was look at the home screen...i also had a generic build.prop when i flashed so that might of had something to do with it? But i think i might have missed something when merging lg source with googles...im thinking lg doesn't have the folder structure 100% the same as googles...i could be wrong though. Anyways yeah that's as far as i have got.
