Built in tether FRG01B

Inside my wireless & network settings there is a check box for Tethering. I havent tried to use it in case they start trying to charge me for it. Has anyone else used it or know anything about it? I am not rooted and forced the FRG01B update from the Stickey on these forums.

If you enable it and try to use it, you'll be redirected to a verizon web page telling you how to subscribe to the service for $20/month. They won't charge you for it, but you'll only be able to get to the verizon page without subscribing.

EasyTether worked great for me. I used the free version and was able to hook up my laptop to the internet within minutes, and the speed was very good. I'm also on 2.2, but haven't tried any native tethering. I didn't try accessing a VPN or anything, just plain Internet.

Uhhh I got the update at around 6am this morning and when my droid was connected to my PC i click the tether option and it just worked... not redirecting or anything.

Was your droid connected to a 3g signal or wifi?

Same with me. No redirect. It just worked. I turned off my computers wireless option to.

Ahh my phone was on wifi. After I turned wifi off I got the redirect. Damn my glimmer of hope

EasyTether works well, and only costs $10.00 (one time) to enable https and udp forwarding.
