Bump charging - is it worth it?

It seems like lot of people are recommending the bump charging in order to get the battery fully charged. Although I'm frustrated that regular users have to come down to this annoyingly manual measure just to fully charge their phone, I agree that this could be a valid advice in the short run - it will get the job done. But my concern is, since a battery only has so many times it can go through the cycle of charging & discharging, wouldn't dividing up what would have been a 1-time charge into say 4 different charging segments, on a daily basis, shorten your battery life in the long run?

i agree. i think its stupid that HTC cant even make a battery/phone that can be fully charged the first time. heres my routine, have the phone off at night, in the morning i see the light is green i unplug and plug back in..it turns to orange for about another hour :/ green again!! unplug and plug back in...orange...a few more times till the LED turns green right away and then i turn on my phone and it lasts all day with great battery life lol

once i changed my settings and wasnt going through a full battery every day i stopped bumping.

Assuming the charging system that the device uses cuts the charge off earlier than it should, you may gain 10% more battery life. People claiming hours more are sugar pill lovers :)

Why don't you pull the phone off the charger when the LED turns green. That will solve your problem.

When the phone hits 100%, the phone stops charging and it will automatically start charging again once it hits a certain percentage. Somewhere in the 90s. So its better to just leave it on the charger, imo, until you're ready to start using it. No point unplugging it just because it reaches 100% and you AREN'T going to use it. You'll get the same amount of battery drain whether its on the charger or not at that point.

So people...if you leave it on the charger until after it's done charging, just know that it won't necessarily still be on 100% b/c the battery has begun discharging already. DON'T FREAK OUT!!

This makes too much sense, so the true bump charge believers will not like your logic ;)
