Help Bump charging via USB

Is anyone having issues where plugging into a computer does not charge your phone fast enough? I went into Verizon and they said it is a known issue and the only way to recharge is to plug in A/C or the car charger.

I think my issue might be that I am on the edge of the LTE network and my phone is going on and off of it. It was a pleasant surprise to find that Hartford CT has LTE coverage, it is not on any verizon map and the store outside the city didn't know there was 4G either.

No, it's not an issue. It's because you're only going to get a max of 500mA of juice out of a computer's USB port.

The wall charger is rated at a full 1A.

So my phone with screen off and updates every 3-6hrs is consuming more than 500mA of power? Probably not helped by the 4G search? I figured the battery life would be less than ideal, but I didn't think a USB could not power it.

So this really means that I can create a wi-fi hotspot and charge the phone, or I can tether it and slow the battery drain?

If you have high battery drain due to 4G constantly scanning for signal or dropping in and out, see here. This has fixed my 4G and battery issue.
