Buy Evo Design 4G or iPhone 3GS?????

Hey guys, basically I need to give a gift internationally (Dominican Republic) and am choosing between the Evo Desgin, and iPhone 3GS.

Which one would you honestly choose?


Pros and cons:

iPhone 4 (A1332) is way too overprices, and jailbreaking options are still limited. 3GS has unlimited jailbreaking and unlocking options, and using it internationally is too easy, almost plug and play (did it before), and the price is reasonable @ 120 U$D refurbished and in good condition.

Evo Design 4G is a little more expensive brand new @ 170 U$D at this moment, and rooting, and using custom roms seems very simple (been doing it with other devices), but I don't know much about using it internationally, but it does seem a bit more troublesome than with an iPhone.

I read that custum roms don't allow GSM options, and that you have to use stock rom, and live with Bost Mobile annoyances, as well as being a hit or miss using it in other countries.

I'm wondering how much you've talked with the recipient of the gift, hinting at whether an Android device or an iPhone would be her or his preferrence.

I'm also wondering what made you settle on those two particular mentioned phones, in a world full of so many choices. Price, availability, etc?

Meanwhile, I'd recommend the device which has a reputation for functioning the best in the region where the recipient will be using it.

The gift will be for my step-sister, as a graduation present, and for ending as an honored student as well.

She is not tech savvy, but it's pretty clever to figure things out on her own if she has to.

I'm not an iOS fanboy, but I have to admit, it's a little more "dumb-proof" for the majority of people, and makes things a wee bit easier. The jailbreaking features are not bad either. The hardware itself it's pretty long lasting compared to what I see about this device and many others.



I decided to go with the Evo Design 4G, because I own the original HTC EVO 4G that started it all, and LOVED that phone, and I still thinks is superior to this one, even if it's older.



The Evo 4G Design was the only Android 4.0 and GSM phone available on Boost, and I had no GSM choice on Metro. Don't care about phones from AT&T, except for maybe the iPhone. But then again, I didn't do much research on GSM phones from AT&T and Virgin (i think it has GSM as well)... so I'm just being ignorant about other phones and doing this in a hurry.

The Evo 4G design, in my opinion, only has the front facing camera going for it, in a balance of pros and cons against the iphone 3GS. Even the HTC Sence looked sexier on the old EVO 4G, than this phone with ICS.


Finally, I read too many bad reviews about this clone phones with Android out there, even though the hardware sounds promising, there simply is little to no support for them.
