Buying a Galaxy S III?

It does look very promising, but I feel like due to the SII already being such an excellent phone, I don't necessarily feel the need to want the SIII. When I was on the Infuse 4G though, it was a totally different story.
 
I'm not interested in the S III... until ICS totally hozes up my SII (which it's doing to many overseas SIIs). THEN I'll consider it.
 
Ill just wait til my 2 year contracts up to get the sgs 4. Or galaxy note plus.

My sgs 2 is more than enough. Exyonos dual core is still buttery smooth.
 
I very happy with my SGS2 after installing ICS on it. It's still a power house and performs everything with no issues. I was hoping Samsung was going to bring something more to the table. Don't get me wrong, 1.4 quad core processor is nice but I would have like to seen a big advancement in the screen department especially considering that the next iphone will most likely have a screen similar to the new iPads. Also, get rid of the physical buttons, it's 2012, the year of ICS.
 
I'm only almost a year into my SII contract. There is no hurry. If I were upgrade eligible, I'd get it in a heartbeat, but for now, I'm totally happy with my SII. It's a BEAST!
 
My gs2 is rooted and has been running ICS (CM9) for almost 2 months now. It runs absolutely fantastic. It's fast, smooth, and the new ROM is, for all intents and purposes, fully featured. I've got 2 upgrades eligible in July, but I dont think I'm gonna make the switch. I just don't think that 3 tenths of an inch(i think) on the screen size is gonna make much difference. Also, seems I've been reading where it's not been set in stone that the U.S variants will ship with the quad core processor. Opting to stay with the dual core instead. (Maybe I dreamt this, but I'll try to post a link on where I read it. I didn't bookmark it). I mean, Who really knows, but, the jump from the original galaxy s to the GS2 was like going from a rowboat to the Queen Mary, but I just cant see the GS3 being that much of an upgrade from the GS2. We shall soon see.

I gotta say, the GSII run's awesome on a good rom, I'm running Shostock2. Love it. Actually don't see the need to upgrade even for some of the nice features of the GSIII.

I'd have no problem waiting another year for my upgrade..... but also come winter I'd like to see what the new Nexus line will be like. Kinda wish they'd have some offerings around this size though, the GSII with the 4.3" screen is just a great overall size, I'd have to use the GSIII and see how much bigger it feels.
 
I will probably wait and let the dust settle am sure there will be a few niggles regards this new phone My HTC Desire overheated using some apps like GPS copilot and I had to have the MOBO changed it still over heats and now out of warranty not sure I would buy another HTC but I do like the Samsung do you folks find that your phones literately overheat and then reboot

I got my last two phones on release day, and NEVER AGAIN. I am among the others here who are in no hurry to get a new phone anyway. So I'm not even going to look at the specs and get caught up in the hype again. I'm going to be patient from now on.

Still pretty darn happy with this phone.

I've had my Samsung phones act funny when outdoors in the heat, but I don't think I've had one ever reboot bc of it. Definitely never had one overheat due to running an app. I've had them FEEL hot, but not act any different.
 
I think all Smartphones will get hot and when you think where does all the heat dissipate too from that processor for everything is totally enclosed unlike laptops, etc, which have some sort of ventilation

That's about where I am with my S II. I'm sure something can be a little better but going from the Captivate to the S II was an incredible difference. I can't see needing any more speed than what I have, but I do have another phone coming up for an upgrade at some point.
 
If someplace gets the price down to something reasonable, say $50, pretty quickly I might pick one up. But if it takes too long for that to happen I'll just wait for the S4.

I don't think that will happen until the SIV is about to be released. Flagship phones on every carrier maintain their $200 price tag (some even higher, around $250) for a good solid year, until the next year when the next generation flagship phone is released.

The only reason why the SII was able to get so cheap on AT&T was because the Skyrocket partially competed with it under the flagship branding of Samsung. For the SIII, since it'll be just one model only, it'll be the lone flagship representative for Samsung on AT&T (the Note II may also be considered "flagship", but due to its large size, it's still considered somewhat of a niche phone and not quite as mainstream flagship as the SIII).

I'm just surprised they are offering it at $199. I was honestly expecting it to be $249 or higher with a 2-year contract, considering the awesome specs.
 
I really like the screen resolution on the Note, even though I dont need a screen that large. I really like the camera speed on the One X. I wish the S3 was a f2.0 lens, but nonetheless, I'll be upgrading for the camera and display. sadly, I'm still attached to my SGS2, so I probably wont sell it and it will collect dust.

Have to agree, ShoStock 2 is pretty slick, been running it for a quite a while. The SGS2 is still an awesome phone, especially running ICS.
 
I was one of the fools paying $199 for the phone, only to find AT&T selling it for $99 2 weeks later. I have no regrets as my S2 is a *wonderful* phone, even without the ICS upgrade. I'm too lazy to study on how to root my phone to get the latest and greatest, so I'm waiting for AT&T to wake up. I read some specs on the S3 (Exynos quad?) that makes it drool-worthy, but a little patience may get me a refurbished phone for a fraction of the cost. Or an unlocked one. I have to say that I also find the Note tempting. It's huge, unwieldy, graceless, whatever, but it's pretty cool on the ads...
 
I got my SGS2 at Target for $50.00 during a Christmas promotion. I'm running ShoStock as well and frankly, for the couple of months I suffered with the 2.4.6, I should have flashed it the day I unboxed it. This ICS iteration is a vast improvement.

Anyway, the SGS3 looks great spec-wise, but doesn't do that much for me from a design/ergonomic point of view.
