Root Buying a rooted desire..

I am buying an already rooted desire (Second hand) for my wife later. I believe its just running some stock rom now since he is selling it.

What do I need to do to if I am putting in a new sd card, in order to get the app2d working?

Do I have to partition the card again somehow? Its been months since I had to do anything like this.

I will probably stick a sense based ROM on it for her, but I just need to know what to do to the sd card first.

Thanks!

If its running a stock rom all you need to do is partition using Gparted. Android will write its necessary files to it when you switch it on. Afresh flash might be a good idea though.

You dont even know if the rom has an a2sd script so for all you know it is a simple rooted stock without init.d support. You will need to find out if it supports a2sd+ and if not, decide on a rom that does to flash.

Well I am definitely going to flash a different ROM.

Just wondering what to do first, just use gparted to partition the sd card? Then drop the ROM zip on the sd card, boot into recovery then flash the ROM?

If it was me I would do this.

1, check for porn.
2, find a ROM you want. A good sense one like a standard desire ROM is Leedroid.
3, Use Gparted to make an ex3 partition.
4, put clockwork mod on it if it doesn't already.
5, Factory reset via clockwork mod.
6, and install new ROM.
7, Enjoy.

Like I said, that's what I'd do.

Pretty much yes. The most compatible solution would be to make an extra 1GB ext3 partition just after reducing the size of the current FAT32 partition.
