Ask if they'd be willing to send the SKU for the phone, to confirm that it's a legitimate Note 2 with Samsung and/or the provider.

Hello and welcome note2go:)

Did you receive the device yet?
If not, and I don't know if I'm of much help as I have not purchased electronics from Ebay but...
I would check the sellers reputation. Is the feedback good?
Perhaps get the IMEI of the device and the carrier and then call the carrier to see if the IMEI is clean. As in, the seller is not selling some device that is either stolen, or the account is delinquent etc. Just to be sure that you can activate it when you get it.

Maybe ask some questions of the seller as far as appearance...screen/case scratches/cracks, usb port/sdcard slot/sim card slot working.

If you have received it already, make sure you can activate it, make sure the usb port/charger works.
Check the "about phone" information. See if it jives with what it should be for a Note 2.
Can you access the Play Store, set up gmail, texting works? GPS works?
Can you make and receive phone calls? Camera works?

Go into different apps and settings to see if you can access and use them?

Hope that helps a little bit:D

Call 911, if they come less than 5 minutes, your phone is genuine....just kidding...

Welcome....i hope you will enjoy in this forum; too many people are nice and ready to help you here.

Not sure if there's a battery moisture indicator to tell if the phone has been wet in its life or not with these but worth a check. Also worth looking if any of the bezels/housings don't fit correctly meaning that the housing may have been replaced with a non Samsung cheapy version or incorrectly fitted genuine one. Check for sctatches under daylight with screen off for best results, as for software/rooting etc.. this should have been put in the phone description by the seller. Can't think of anything else just now, I hope it works out for you as the Note 2 is an awesome bit of kit!

thanks guy. i just ordered the phone is on its way.
the seller have good rating. and said excellent condition. comes with otterbox.spen and a charger.

I received the phone today. It comes with firmware 4.1.1 when i try to update, it said it's up to date. Isn't 4.1.2 the newest?

If it's international version being used in us, I had to force the upgrade through kies, when I had my international note 2.
