Root Buying Desire, need help understanding

Lurker
Ok guys, been reading lots of threads from here:
Desire, All Things Root Guide
Well, the thing is I'm about to buy the Desire (no previous owner, brand new factory unlocked) and I want to use the full potential of the phone by rooting and installing this ROM:
InsertCoin CM7 HBOOT 1.1.4-Kernel Update #2 Sense2.1+3.0GB
The one I want is the "A2SD CM7 HBOOT - cm7 hboot from alpharev.nl"
So as far as I understood, by reading the Guides and by reading the ROM requeriments what I need to do is the following:
-Rooting and Custom Recovery (Whichever depends on my phone, right? If not, then which one do you recommend? I know of two: AmonRa and CWR) ( S-OFF and ROOT HTC Desire with Revolutionary )
-S-OFF (included in the root tutorial)
-Titanium, nandroid, contacts, sms, etc. Backup (Basically, all my phone)
-EXT partition with Gparted for A2SD ( YouTube Video Tutorial ) Don't really know if this is up to date, found it somewhere in the All Things Root Guide
-Flash the CM7 HBoot to get more memory on the phone, because the ROM I want is A2SD, not A2SD+ (Couldn't find a guide on this one, help here!)
-Flash a Kernel recommended by the ROM developer (Couldn't find much about this neither:()

I'm going to need help with the following:
-Order in which I should do the things above
-A little explanation in the AlphaRev's CM7 Hboot and S-OFF (simple, not too tech) because as far as I understood they are two completely different processes but these are developed by the same team (a little confused here, :p)
-Tips, recommendations, etc.
-Will add more items as soon as I find anything more I need help with

Guys (and maybe Girls, why not?), thanks in advance. Awesome piece of forum you've got here!
Oh and sorry for my English, not my main language.

The first thing you need to do is establish which version of the phone & software you have then follow the correct guide for that phone from the list you linked to.

The next step would be to partition your sd card (1mb ext3 or ext4 recommended) with Gparted from this guide if you use windows. Read this for more information. http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/220627-faq-apps2sd-updated-17-02-11-a.html

Make all the backups (Nandroid, Titanium, SMS).

Then flash the custom ROM you refered to. The requirements listed on the XDA thread for that ROM are CM7 or Stock Hboot. Give it a go with the stock Hboot & see if you like it. Flashing a custom Hboot is a little more risky so you can revisit that later if you wish.

Keep re-reading the guides, it's all there!
