/cache /dev - any way to make these smaller? and Q. about dalvik...

what i believe are 2 areas on my phone's internal memory /dev and /cache... /dev reading 94.7mb with 94.7 mb free and /cache reading 60mb with 58mb free...

anyway to get most of that space transferred to space for app installs? seems a shame, 150mb blank space just sitting there...

also, regarding dalvik....

1) is it okay to wipe this for the sake of clearing up space?
2) if yes, what's the best way to go about this?

The partition used for user data and applications is /data, so you don't get any additional space by clearing other partitions. It's okay to clear Dalvik cache, but it doesn't bring any more free space also, it will be recreated during boot. You can do this from Recovery (depends on phone and ROM, it's different way how to get to recovery, search Google for your model).

PS: fill in phone model in profile

ok, i understand what you're saying, but what i'm saying is it possible to move space (or re-partition?) from /dev and /cache ... i don't mean clear them.. .they're already mostly empty...which is my point.. there is 150mb on phone memory not being used for anything..

in recovery i didn't see an option to clear dalvik... is there an app, preferable a free one that can do it?

I was mistaken in entering my charger to the port of headset into my tablet,,, instead of entering it to the correct port... then after that my tablet doesn't turn on anymore........ what can I do???

It's possible, but only by making major alterations to the device firmware and kernel.

It's normally under the "Advanced..." menu option.

Return the device for repair, as you've most likely fried the main board.

Ok. Thank you. Extremely frustrating though. 150mb free space that I never use in /dev and /cache, and constantly running out of space on /data even though only have about 20-30mb of apps on there.

I've got the same problem. At least now I know there's not much I can do about it, which is helpful in a way.
