Calendar and Contacts

Does anyone know how you can get the birthdays in the contacts onto the calendar without actually typing them all in again? Is this even possible? Seems like a logical thing to be able to do.

Do you have them on Google calendar or anything?

I have just put in all the contacts in the contacts thing which came with the phone

I dont think the calendar could pick that (birthday on contact).

If you are using Google Calendar, then you can set the birthday as recurring event.
