Calendar & Password queries

Hi all, I am a newbie of 2 days with my desire and very impressed.

I am using the Desire with Hosted Exchange and thats all ok. Two questions have come to light:

1. I have to enter a password on the devise when it shutsdown? I do not have the option of the pattern?

2. I have the widget on the front screen showing me my next calendar entry. However, within the calendar's main display an appt shows, but this has been skipped on the front screen? Has anybody experienced the same or have any idea?

Well, we are in to a new day and the calendar entry on the frontscreen has updated correctly?

Anybody any ideas on my password query?
