Calendar sync

Hello!
I just got into the world of Android by buying a tablet a few days ago.
Needless to say, I still have a lot of things to learn about it... one thing that is baffling me is the fact that, in order to use the tablet's calendar, I am supposed to get a pfx or p12 extension file I can't find anywhere on the www.
I guess this is also a question of synchronization... I have added a gmail account and toggled on the sync features but still I am making no progress whatsoever.
Can anyone give me a hand with this please (explained to a complete newbie in these matters)?

Thanks in advance,

Henrique

It would probably help if you mentioned which tablet and the version of Android that it is running. (settings > about > Android Version)

The stock android calendar doesn't require ANYTHING. Once you turn on calendar sync it should automatically sync to anything you have in your gmail account's calendar. If you go into gmail, and go to calendar and add an event, it should immediately sync to your tablet.

If it doesn't appear to be working, you may need to open the calendar app on your tablet, go to the menu/settings for the calendar app and choose which calendars to display. In some cases, even if you set the device up to sync calendars, you need to tell the app itself which calendars you want to sync (helpful for people with multiple calendars, not so much if you have one.)

I'va added an event on my gmail account... I've updated the calendar on the tablet.. it's requesting an Exchane account... I've ented my gmail credentials but then it asks for a pfx or p12 file (certificate) installed on my microsd card (the one I can't find anywhere)...

Another thing... I've been checking it out the calendar settings on my gmail account and I've managed to export a ics file... does this has anything to do with what I had mentioned before?

Pasted the ics file to my microsd card but an error message was shown stating that the file format is invalid... not my lucky day :(

The ICS file has nothing to do with it. That's just an export of the calendar data in case you wanted to transfer it to another program.

I have no idea why it would request certificates and an exchange server.

When you go into the calendar app and press the three dots to open the menu, then select settings......what do you see?

It should say...

General Settings
XXXX@gmail.com
About calendar

When you originally added a calendar, did you mistakenly choose "Corporate" instead of "Google"?

Try to delete whatever calendar account you have on the phone. Try clicking "add account" in the upper right and choose google, then choose 'existing' (assuming you have one already....then enter the gmail address and password.
