Help Calendar Widget

II Kings 9:20

Android Enthusiast
I played with the Fascinate today for more than an hour at VZW. I LOVE IT. My only question is related to the calendar. On my D1 I have many more widget choices including the calendar. This widget displays on my home screen and always shows my next appointment whether it is today or in a week. The next calender entry always shows. This is not the case for the Fascinate. It has a nice widget that shows weather, stocks, and at the bottom appointments. It only shows today's appointments. I downloaded a calender widget app that was nice and may work but it would not open so I don't know.

Now the question: Can any of you guys with the fascinate comment on a widget that allows the widget to display the next entry on the calendar. To be clear on my D1, if I have no calendar entries for today, my 10am meeting tomorrow shows up on the widget with a time and date. Can one do this with the Fascinate.

I have found the Calendar widgets for the Fascinate to be sorely lacking compared to, say, my HTC Incredible.

No good replacement found yet...unfortunately...I just docked the Calendar shortcut to my lower four shortcuts and open it periodically.

Not exactly a deal beaker but I have really come to rely on my next appointment right in my face on the home screen.. it has saved me from missing a meeting on more than one occasion.

Agreed. With 3-10 meetings at work a day it would definitely be nice to have an improved calendar widget.

What was the one you found that didn't work?

I don't know if this is helpful but I use LP plus and the calendar widget works nice for me.

Jorte! is a great calendar, task manager, memo app that has about 10 different widget options of all sizes and functions. You can use it as a standalone calendar or synced with your Google calendar.

It's the GCalender widget in the marketplace. Tried it on my Droid1 and it fails to open there too. Looks like we have some good options already posted. I am going to check them out on the D1 first especially any free ones.

I use and have always only used Android Agenda Widget. There are many types of skins for it so show more things and you can do a 4x4 also if you want. Here is mine in a 3x3. You have all options of sizes available.

Pretty nice summerF, something like that would suffice on the SF. All of these suggestions help because I don't want to go with the SF and give up important D1 features. I do love that SF- can't wait to upgrade. Going to try to get an early upgrade.

Agreed, I put it on my D1 as a test and it is great. This is the one I would add to the SF (as of this moment). I am sure launcher pro is great but I'll save that coin for the extended battery. My D1 lasts only 12 hours with what I consider only moderate use and the task killer set to auto kill all tasks every half hour.

Thanks for the pic, does this sync up with the Gmail calender- if it does, it would be a great choice for the SF too. I'll look closely at this and the Jorte.

Yes it does. And it can with Astrid too. You can also sync a sorts of calendars with it. It's super great. The Developer and I worked hard to get kinks out. He lives in Australia and I'm in the States. But if you have issues, just email him. He's great.

Agreed, the Android widget is great as is the Jorte. Checked out both on the D1. Who remembers the Moto V60, StarTac, Razr? How far have we come in these last several years (credit to Apple for revolutionizing smartphones and setting the high bar) that you can have a phone with inadequate functions like a calendar and literally in seconds transform it. We are indeed in a golden age. I have a pic pf a 5mb (not GB) storage unit by IBM in 1959 that is being loaded onto a plane with a forklift.

Summerf, I may use this on my D1 in lieu of the standard calendar widget- pretty slick.

Indeed many thanks for all who posted in this thread. While I love my SF the calendar really blows. I hate the inability to delete entries. Definitely going to be trying some of these widgets and recommendations
