Help Call/Media volume does not work

So I got my second refurbished ally about 5 months ago. It has since worked perfectly but recently, I began having trouble with the in-call volume and the media speaker volume. I am unable 2 hear anyone on the earpiece and when I attempt to play music with the regular speaker it doesn't work either. I've tried plugging in and unplugging headphones and all that does is makes a song start randomly. I've also removed the battery which solved this problem the last time I had it. Nothing I've tried has worked. Any suggestions on how 2 solve this problem will be appreciated.

id bet its the headset jack. i havent heard of similar issue caused by anything else but i could be wrong. i know they have cleaners for it and others have said alcohol worked. or take it to verizon if its under warranty. the jack sucks and stays open so dust and such had easy access.
