Help Call Quality

Hi I am wondering if this is just the usual "death grip effect" or if it is something more. When I put the phone up to my head and talk my bars frequently goto 2 to 0 or even roaming. People have told me I cut out on calls and sometimes they cut out also. My brother in-law has same provider(Telus) in same house and never has issues.

I am mainly asking because they want to charge me handling fee and rental of phone fee to send it in for repairs which could take who knows how long and maybe not able to fix?

I see so many people happy with this phone and my I find myself hating this phone because of this issue. As an overall media device its awesome as a actual phone it is completely terrible.

Anyone have some advice for me on this problem?

Thanks

Welcome to AF! :)

The signal in my house is very poor, but I can't say I've had many problems with calls dropping etc. That being said, you wouldn't be the first person I've heard with the issue either.

If you take the SIM cover off, there are 2 golden contacts, you could give them a clean (they're the antenna), that might make a difference? Those cheap silicone phone cases can apparantly have a negative impact on signal strength, so you could try taking that off if you have one?

Is there an option on the stock ROM to switch to a 2G network? It should be in the Mobile Networks Setting? There is on CM7, but I can't recall if there was a similar thing before I rooted.

Telus never supported 2g so unfortunately that is not a option, I have heard that helps never had option to test it though

Didn't think it would work based on your previous post but just wanted to try it anyway :\

Your best bet would be just to send it in for repair. It will still be under warranty though so you technically shouldn't need to pay.
