Help Caller ID shows on number, no name

Automic

Lurker
Just got my Photon today and have received a few calls, but each time (from numbers in my contact list) it only displays the number, not the person's name.

Sprint moved my numbers over from my BlackBerry 8330.

Anyone else had this issue / fixed it?

Thanks

Did you check your contacts to make sure that the names transferred over too (and not just the numbers)?

Also, do you have a google account with all of those contacts saved? If so, easiest thing I would recommend is to join the contacts so that they sync up with google contacts, and verify that they save in your google contacts (while checking at a PC).

Thanks for the response. I did check and all the names are there. After my fiance called and no name showed up, I checked her contact name and looked at the history and it said she called me at 6 p.m. To me, that says it's registering that the number is a contact, but not displaying her info.

As far as having a google account with all my contacts, I am pretty sure once I added my google account today, it added everyone on my old BB contacts to it because now all of them are displayed twice in my contact list. If I try to delete the first one, it just gives me an "are you sure" message. If I try to delete the second one, it warns me that it will remove it from all linked accounts (assuming that means my google account since I haven't setup any others).

No need to delete any contacts, just "Join" them. This is all you'd need to do:

1) Open the Google version of the contact.
2) Hit Menu>Edit Contact
3) Hit Menu>Join Contact
4) Choose the duplicate contact to merge it with.
5) Save Contact.

It's tedious, but once you've gone through all of them, you shouldn't need to worry about it ever again.

Awesome tip. One that was driving me nuts not knowing for a while.

TS

Yeah, TS! It was mentioned in passing on a few different threads, but I knew it was going to get lost in the shuffle at some point.

SporkLover was the first to post in another thread (and the post got lost in the shuffle of release day). I merged a couple threads and made a Sync & Link Contacts discussion thread, so it'll be easier for anybody else that gets the Photon, but is coming from a non-Android device or Android device manufactured by HTC, Samsung, or LG:
