Help Caller name not displayed :(

Hi,
I transferred all my contacts using bluetooth from my sony phone to my new
LG optimus p500 phone. It transferred the contacts in the vcf format.
However caller name is not displayed :( But when i receive messages the sender's name is shown. Please help
Thanks in advance:)

Are they correctly listed in the 'contacts' list?

If they are, one possibility is that the phone number is listed twice in your phonebook, for 2 different contacts and so the phone gets confused which one to display. Check all the display options to make sure you don't have duplicate contacts in your phone book

I am assuming that the caller's number appears when you receive a call, not their name.

Unless you mean that you cannot see the caller's contact details in your contacts phonebook? In which case, they are probably in a group that is not being displayed (because of the menu option)

Thanks for the reply.Yes,the number is displayed when the call comes but not their name. There are no duplicate entries.

Thanks,
Avinash

Seems odd that the name appears when a text is received, but not when a phone call is.

Wild guess: perhaps the formatting of the phone number is incorrect in some way? missing area code, special characters?

Try deleting a contact and making a new one for a friend and have them try to both call/text you and see what happens.

I did exactly that and for a new contact its all fine :)..
But the imported set of contacts its rather behaving strangely.

Cheers!!!

I am going to guess that the formatting of the phone number is a bit wrong then. Maybe it has a character in there that the phone application doesn't recognise as a valid number: space, () or -

Odd that the messaging app does, though. Perhaps it is less fussy about what constitutes a valid number
