Calling problem!

Ive been through 2 lg volts and both of them had the same calling problems. Most of the time when the phone is getting called the phone call is not received and the other person tell me it rings 2 or 3 times and goes to voicemail but i never receive the call. Another problem is when making a call it takes aproximitely 10 to 15 seconds for the call to connect and the timer to start counting call time. I also noticed that the signal bars disapear when you tap to make the call and reapear when it finally does connect. When i went to radio shak the employee there told me they had the same phone and i asked them about those issues and they said they were having the 2nd issue i mentioned. The problem has been occurring since both phones came out of the box.

This really sounds like network problems in your area, not problems with the specific model of phone. I went through the same kind of thing for a couple of months when there were upgrades happening in my area. After I dialed, it was talking 35-40 seconds for the connection to actually be made and to start ringing. I would also have voicemail that I wasn't aware of until getting out of my hometown, because my phone didn't ring or give me a notification. Very aggravating!

Have you called or emailed to ask if there are outages or upgrades going on near you? Customer service can also try to refresh your network connection, which may also help alleviate the problems you described. If it is due to tower upgrades, though, you'll pretty much need to wait it out for anything to get better.

Yep, definitely sounds like upgrade issues or all the problems I've had with sending receiving calls were account related.

The other handset i used before the volt was a triumph with custom rom but it worked great. Also there is no outages or upgrades in my area unfortunately. 😞
Another weird thing is the phone calls connect faster when im not at home and away from my area. Its strange.

The fact that is worse at your house indicates there is an issue with your "most local" tower of some sort. I've had "account" issues where it worked fine for months and then they had to go so far as deleting my account entirely and starting it from scratch (after six years, wtf?). But it somehow got totally out of sorts and that was all they could do to get it to work (it would only get calls from Sprint or Virgin numbers and couldn't call land lines for some reason, very strange!).

Good luck!

Denver just got updated to 4G, and I noticed a big drop in signal. As I understand it, when connected to 4G, your phone is in data only mode. When an incoming call starts, a 4G data packet is sent to your phone which tells it to drop back to CDMA real quick, then it can take the call.

With 4G being really new in my area, the signal is not yet "optimized" and changing my phone to CDMA only mode fixes the problem, but I loose 4G... kind of a crappy compromise.

Sprint usually releases stuff before it ready, so I'm hoping it improves soon here. Good luck to you!
