Calls are distant

Hi there, new user here who just went from iPhone to G2 and I love it so far! A small problem I have though is that everytime I'm talking to someone they sound like they are really far away and It's really hard to hear them. Ofc I tried turning up the sound, but it doesn't help. Most of the time I have to plugin my headset to talk or put it on speaker, but I can't do it all the time. ;)

I hope someone have an idea as to what it could be.
 
Is it every call, or just random ones, and are they only calls that you're in certain spots for, that might indicate a tower/network issue? I know it's simple questions, but I know there are other people that have had issues too, so just trying to narrow down where to look.
 
Only other thing I could think of would be to do a full reboot on it, maybe try reseating the SIM just for kicks, and last resort a factory reset to rule out anything else. Sucks, but that's about all I can think of at the moment, with it being every call.
 
I kinda felt the same way until I rooted and applied the Viper4 sound mod. Anybody know of a sound boost app that doesn't require root? Not sure if one exists.

The other thing I've noticed is I have to hold this phone just right so the speaker is perfectly inline with my ear, otherwise I can barely hear anything. Most phones are kinda like that but this one seems particularly touchy for me as far as the need for ideal positioning goes.
 
It happened to me the first time i answered a call.

Im also coming from iphone. Never had an android or big phone before.

I fixed it by simply moving the phone down. Because i am used to the small iphone i was covering the earpiece with my ear.

Basically the very top edge of the phone should be in the middle of your ear. If you hold it like an iphone you will cover the earpiece. This phone has the screen stretched to the very edges so the earpiece is almost at the very top of the phone.

Maybe it's as simple as adjusting the phone and moving it until you can hear.
 
I just had a problem today where I called my boss several times and he could not hear me. He could hear I was talking but couldn't really hear what I was saying. I ended up rebooting seemed to be ok after that
