Cambridge Sciences V10 Tablet problems.

Hi all
I have a problem with A Cambridge Sciences V10 Tablet
Model DISCO10
Android 2.2-20110803
Kernal Version 2.6.32.9
Build No FRF85B
Apart from the information above I have no prior knowledge of any android devices, I bought this for my son.
Heres the low down.
When he first powered it up after inserting the external SD card all was fine it took photos and stored them on the internal storage 8Gig device, however after my son and his uncle had been playing around with it now says "Please Insert an SD card before using the camera"
it also comes up with this message if we try and use the voice recorder.
Originally the photos were stored on the internal storage device and they are indeed still on this In Local Myalbum Dir but when i try and view one i get the message "SD Card Unmounted or not present"
As far as I can see both internal SD and external SD1 can be accessed from My Pad and i can copy files between them.
Could it be that a sytem file or files have been erased given this problem if so is ther any way to recover from this or download new system files?

It appears that the Local or internal storage that is at fault. when I try to delete photos from the myalbum folder it gives the message "Delete Failed because of disk cannot be written. Please check the disk"
How do i check the disk? is there a app for this or what?
Help.
