Help Camera Button quit, HELP!

I've been wanting to root my TU for quite a while, but when I decided I would, the camera button stopped working. I'm not sure if it was a programing failure when I upgraded to 2.3.6, or if it is an ACTUAL hardware failure, but should I attempt to go through the trouble of doing a factory reset then reinstalling everything, or just assume it's hardware failure and try to take this phone apart to fix it? Basically, if I can't fix it and get it rooted, then I'm getting a Galaxy SII 4G in the next month or so, though I'd much prefer the Keypad instead of the touchscreens cause touchscreens do not like my fingers.
Any help at all would be appreciated

Download Camera ICS and see if the camera button will work. Unfortunately, you need the camera hard button to get into download mode which is the only way to root.

If it does turn out to be the hardware button, powerkane has a very nice tutorial on disassembling the phone. I'll post a link as soon as I find it.

EDIT: Here we go. :)

Alternatively, you can get set up with ADB and use that to get to download mode.

This would be the easier route, as once you've installed ADB, all you do is connect your phone (make sure USB debugging is enabled), open up a CMD window, head to where you installed ADB and type:

adb reboot download

Then watch as your phone says "YES, MASTER!" and reboots into Download mode in preparation for rooting/odin/what have you. :D
