Help Camera & camcorder help please

My x is running gingerbread. It used to take great pictures but now it sometimes just gives me a splash of color. The camcorder takes a video smoothly but when you try to play it back, you get a screen that says "video cannot be played not compatible with device" any ideas
 
I had a different problem with the camera where my image would freeze on my screen but maybe the solution I found will help you too.

First remove all pictures from your phone by backing them up to a computer then delete them all off your phone.

Next go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All. Then scroll down the camera app and click on it and choose clear data. Then under the All tab again go to the Media Storage app and select clear data.

Then I did a phone restart and when it came back on the camera and video recording worked perfect!
