Camera - can't find auto capture

Hi everyone,

Newbie to both android and Desire HD here - got mine on Tuesday and chuffed to bits with it :) Have been fiddling away and even reasonably satisfied with battery life now. Lots of top tips on, have read and learnt a lot so thank you all.

On to business: This morning I wanted to take a daft self-portrait of myself (a doddle on the ol' sony erisscon). It's really tricky and I tried self timer etc... So I looked in the big manual. Page 143 and 146 describe an auto capture function - for just such an event as a daft self portrait. Only problem is I can't find it!

I'm in camera - definitely photo not video - and then menu which brings up settings. All the settings are there except that one.

Any ideas? Would be handy to know where my "auto capture" option has gone!

Thanks.

I've tried the self portrait option, except it takes the picture before I get a chance to turn the phone around, or if I do turn it quick enough, its not focused on me.

Any instructions on how to actually use it?

I've never had an issue:

Camera
Menu
Self-portrait
Select 1 FACE/2 FACE (as appicable)

Takes a little while to focus on a target, then takes the picture no probs.

You don't need to press the shutter button when using the self-portrait mode. Just choose the mode, and then point the phone at yourself - the phone will take the picture itself when it recognises that there's a face in the frame.

:)

Not pressing the shutter does the trick. For some reason I felt I needed to tell the camera I was ready for it to take the picture
