Hello everyone,
After I upgraded to Gingerbread on my Captivate my camera wouldn't work. After starting the camera app, I could see the controls for taking pictures but nothing was showing up on the screen. I've never dropped my phone in the 2 years I've had it but I thought maybe the connection was loose on the motherboard so I took apart the phone and reconnected the camera. Didn't help.
I came here to get some root advice for Gingerbread and found this thread: http://androidforums.com/captivate-all-things-root/483646-guide-root-official-2-3-5-guide.html
Worked great. Super easy and quick. Well while using Titanium Backup to delete the AT&T bloatware I saw an entry for camera firmware 1.0. I backed up that entry and then deleted the entry and now the camera works.
Just thought I would let everyone know my experience. Maybe it will help others.
