Help Camera Error

neelnnish

Newbie
Hi,

After KK update I am getting Camera Error whenever I open my camera. If I switch off and On it will work fine. Is there any solution?

Thanks

Before a reset, I'd try wiping data and cache with the camera app.
You can reach that via Settings - Apps - Camera, then wipe data/cache.

I have the same problem. All of sudden camera gives error "Camera error" with black screen and all you have is "Ok" and than camera closes. Sometimes it works from second try, sometimes not. Then you have to shut Moto G down and power it up again. Of course, the moment you wanted to capture is gone..
I did wipe cache, no result. Did factory reset, no result. Although camera didn't "crash" for the first 10-15 times but after that, it gave error.
Maybe to disable it and install some 3rd party camera app from Playstore? Will that help? Any suggestion on decent camera app to install? Even if it is few bucks but it's worth it, I'll buy it. But this camera error is frustrating!

Yes..I did Factory setting and Camera data Wipe. As of now its working fine and no error message. Will come back if problem repeats.

Thank you friends...

Nothing solved this mess for me. Almost half of the I open Camera it crashes. Returned the phone to Boost for another and it happens on the new one. I downloaded Zoom FX camera app and paid for it, and it never crashes. I reported this to Moto support. They promised they would send it on to escalate it to an engineer or something of that nature.

Does wiping the camera data erase anything in the gallery?

Trying to fix someones phone right now, and she can't exchange it...Trying to fix this without rooting it like some other forums have suggested.

**UPDATE**

Installed 4.4 onto the phone and it seems to work 100% of the time now.

It's not happening for me, but perhaps follow this thread as it's quite active:
[Q] Camera Crashing on Kitkat 4.4 - xda-developers

Hi.. Still having camera problem. I checked chrome setting as per above thread but there is no camera related settings in Consent Settings.

Guys, what to do? Each time we cant switch off the phone since any moment you wanted to capture will not remain there till our phone restarts.

Serious problem!!

You updated to Kit Kat and then did a Factory Data Reset AFTER the update and you are NOT root-ed. Correct?

You could try running in Safe Mode disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them and if it disappears the problem is caused by an app that you added.

Do any of u have Skype or any other application that makes use of ur camera. Uninstall it and restart ur fone and it should work with ease :) at least mine did :)

I did reboot in safe mode and it downloaded updates to Motorola Assist, Google+ and Camera app and since then works fine
