Camera Exposure

I found a thread about GS3s having and issue and it is the same issue as my note 2. With my iphone I could change the exposure of the picture by touching a different area of the screen. With the note 2 I cannot do this, it only changes the focus. This is with the camera set to spot meter. It seems that some phones it works, some it doesnt. Samsung wanted me to send in the phone for a weeks worth of software updating, after I completely reset the phone first. Since I just got this one I think my better idea is to go to ATT and try and exchange it first.

If I click on the camera settings button while in camera mode, there is an option to adjust exposure.
UK International sim free handset.

Hi majik! Stop thinking of it like the iPhone. As Evo said, changing exposure is done in the camera settings. No need to send to Samsung or return for exchange.

So this is not a feature of the camera then? In other threads people mention that the GS3 does have this feature, and that it is hit and miss on those cameras too. I thought this phone had the same camera. Samsung did seem to indicate that there was an issue. If it wasn't a feature I would expect that they would tell me that instead of offering to repair it. I understand that I can adjust the exposure in the menu, but it is much easier and quicker to adjust on the fly by telling the camera where to expose.

When you open the camera you have shortcuts to adjust, flash settings etc, but you can change these shortcuts to your preference, I tried it and you can make a shortcut for exposure, to me it makes no difference but will this help you?

I think I know what you are asking. I could do the same thing with my HTC Thunderbolt. As an example, take a picture of a view from a mountain and the camera would sense light and adjust. But, if I touched in the trees, the camera would setup of for the lower light. Touch in the sky and it would adjust for more light. I got pretty good at finding the best spot in a scene, touching it, and getting the best picture possible. Is this is not possible with this phone and you have to get into the settings to get same result?

Not sure. Must go play some more and see. I know when I go into some of the "canned" settings it blacks out the adjustments so I can't tweak them.

Sorry for the rapid fire posts.

Under the "metering" settings, try the "spot' selection. Is that what you are looking for?
