Root Camera Flash not working after Rom #2 2.4 install

I took my first forays into rooting and Rom installing the #2 ROM on my Esteem. It totally fixed the long start times and everything seemed to be working great. Until I tried to take a photo. The camera works fine but no Flash. I then tried the flashlight app and nothing. I know the flash worked with the stock rom before I put on #2. I'm not finding any other references to this issue, but having spent days getting this tweaked to my liking I'd really like to not try re-roming. Any suggestions?
 
I confirmed the camera was set to Flash on and not auto. Also I tested the flashlight app that just turns on the camera's led to use as a flashlight and the led did not come on (even though the app thinks that it was on). I'd almost think it was hardware other than the fact the flash work before installing the ROM.

I'm guessing Metro won't be much help now that I've got the non stock rom installed :(
 
Yeah, since I'm new I have that fear of bricking my phone. I don't do well without my phone :) To test if it's the ROM making the LED not work, would you suggest trying a different rom, or going back to stock?

Was going to try Black Plague, but I'm just not that goth. Could get used to it if everything worked though.

For sure just try a different ROM. If it works great-if not you can try other methods. Hey easiest is always better ;)
 
I restored back to stock ROM and kernel still no LED. I'm guessing it's hardware related.

You could access the LG hidden menu and test the led.

The settings from the newer #2 roms use this in the settings to get the flashlight feature.

You can also install Pimp My Rom from the Market, it has a function to access the devices hidden menus if you do not know how to access it with an alternative launcher.
