Help Camera flash problem

Hi guys, is it just me or does anyone else have a problem with the camera flash being too bright? It takes great pics in daylight but in low light conditions when the flash its required it illuminates the subject's skin and looks rather naff. Anyone got any tips/a solution to this problem

On the camera you can play around with the Settings, especially White balance and Image adjustments.

You can manually adjust the ISO settings which could cut down the overexposure.

You can stick a piece of tissue paper over the flash bulb which will reduce the flash effect.

It could also be due to the composition of the shots you're taking.
