I noticed recently that the camera is not 8 megapixels on its default widescreen setting.
If you go into the camera menu there is a widescreen tick box.
With the default setting (widescreen ticked) the camera resolution says "8M (3264 x 1840)" this is actually 6 megapixels
With the 4:3 setting (widescreen unticked) the camera resolution says "8M (3264 x 2448)" this is actually a touch under 8 megapixels.
So by using the widescreen setting your losing 25% of the camera resolution.
