Help Camera Issue

My phone that I just bought has water damage the only thing affected is the camera. I'm trying to avoid an insurance claim which would cost more than the phone did just to fix the camera. I am looking for advice I'm open to any ideas.

Interestingly I downloaded a mirror app and it seems as though the front facing camera is still functioning; however I cant switch to it in the camera apps as the camera fails before then. When opening a app like instagram it says it can not connect, and with a flashlight app it says that the phone does not support led.

Any ideas appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome Hyperfaery!
Well, 2 things I can suggest to try, but with water damage.......we'll see:)

Go into the camera app via the menu/settings/application manager/all/camera.
Or is it menu/manage applications/all/camera. Don't quite remember what stock is, as I am rooted.
Anyways, clear the cache and data and force stop the camera app.
Then go back to your camera and try it.

The other option would be to go into your stock recovery and clear the cache and dalvik cache, reboot and try the camera app.
But, one thing at a time.:)

Tried all of the above and a factory reset however nothing has changed.

What about a bypass straight to the front facing camera I could live with a mediocre camera rather than none.

A bit round-about but you could use the Mirror app and take a screenshot (hold in Home and Power at same time) unless you can find a camera app that lets you use the front cam
