Help Camera issues

Hello,

Just wanted to see if anyone here had issues with their camera on the Commando. Mine, overall, seems to be very slow and laggy. Here are my issues;

-Takes quite some time, if it even works, when you hit the dedicated camera button for it to go into camera mode.

-Even in good lighting, camera takes blurry pictures.

-Has a lot of trouble auto focusing

-Zoom does not work

Was thinking that a faster SD card would help with the lag issue since it can read/write the card faster.

Any input or help would be great. Thanks!

I have the same issues with my camera. I didn't buy this beast thinking I could take incredible pictures though so its fine. Just so long as it can take the punishment I give it I'm fine.

I really do wish, as with the camcorder, that these problems are fixed with the next firmware upgrade.

The camera is marginal. I use the shutter button on the side of the camera and press down half way, it focuses and then the rest of the way for the pic. If things are moving around, i get blur.

I don't like the flash. either it is on or off, no auto setting. I think a camera boasting some of the features it has should have auto flash.

I thought my camera zoom was broken until I went on Verizon's site and under support I downloaded the manual. I noted in the manual that when the camera is set at 5mp, you cannot zoom. If you set the camera to a lower megapixel, it will zoom some.

hopes this helps.

I did not even try turning down the picture quality. Thank you for the info. I don't want to say I am glad, but at least I am not the only one with blurry pictures. Wish there was some way to fix this. I dislike the flash too. As said above, I didn't get the phone to be taking a lot of pictures, but I would like to take at least some that are not blurry!

I'm new to Android and smartphones in general...among many questions I have, one is if there is a suggested camera app that can replace the stock. I realize the quality can't necessarily be changed, but the functionality of it can't be that hard to improve upon...it actually seems to be easier to use in Evernote than the stock app, but I don't really want to use a memo app just to snap some quick pics here and there.

I haven't received my Commando yet,
but I'm not liking the sound of all that....
At the same time I almost expected it though.
One of my other phones is a Casio Rock.
It has the worse camera I've ever seen, no joke!
There's no such thing as a decent picture with that phone.
I was hoping that Casio had improved with that part, but it sounds like they haven't. :(
My Rock has the constant flash staying on issue too.
That's definitely gotta be a Casio thing.

The camera is not why I bought the phone.
But Jeeez....if Casio can't offer a phone with a camera that DOESN'T BLURR,
I'd just rather they leave the damn thing off the phone altogether,
and invest the savings into improving other points of the phone.
Just my $.02

How's the video on this one?

My camera doesn't blurr at all, I find it to take very clear pics in good light. I didn't get it for the cam anyway, but it seems very acceptable. The flash is constant tho. the video works well also. My issue is getting the vids onto my laptop for better viewing. wrong format I guess.

Interesting......
Guess I'll see pretty soon for myself.
It's not really a big deal,(to me)
I just hope it's quite a bit better than the camera on the Rock.
Hell....it couldn't be any worse!

If you take a picture of something that is bright and in high light, the pictures are good to go. Anything even close to low light, it blurs a lot.

The video is not to bad. I took a few and sent them to my laptop via e-mail and they look good.

I took some video on a road trip and tried to send it to my email, but it said it was to large(maybe 5mb). So I was able to transfer it after plugging in with usb but wrong format I guess as they won't open on my wm7. I dunno, and unfortunately I'm not super computer savvy. I will keep googling for a solution.;)

Mine opened up in Windows Media. Hmm. Maybe update yours and it should work? Or download a codec pack. Codecs are "decoders" in a sense for your computer to understand different video formats. Here is a link;

Download K-Lite Codec Pack

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip. I sent a smaller one as a test and it went thru to my email, played it on my laptop no problem. Maybe the phone just has a size limitation. I know the other one was at least 5mb, although that's certainly not huge.

Just like any camera, you have to know how to manipulate the settings I take pictures every day with my phone and post them to Facebook. Most people can't tell the difference between shots I've taken with my Canon $,$$$.$$ camera or my commando. I wish it zoomed on 5 and had a timer.

Any one find what settings will get you unblurry pics. Every pic I take is blurred.
The only setting I changed is the 5mp setting, the rest is as stock. I just point and shoot, no blurring. If it's always been that way then maybe it's a faulty cam.

I haven't found a REAL fix for this, but trust me, you're not alone.
The only thing that I've found to reduce the blur is to take
the picture with the on-screen button instead of the dedicated button.
Some may think this is solely user error, and that people are jerking
the phone while pressing the dedicated button. Not True.
The phone I was using before this was the enV Touch,
which also has a dedicated camera button.
I thought it took very nice pictures for a phone.

IMO this camera is just terrible, even for a phone camera.
I'm very disappointed with it, but not surprised at all.
I also have the G'zone Rock. The pictures are horrendous on that as well.
The Commando's pics aren't quite as bad,
but very little improvement has been made.
I really feel it's a casio problem.

Ill give that a try

using the on screen button works 10x better thanks for the info

Good to hear it helped a bit. :)

Yep, +1 for the on screen button. Sometimes my side hardware button doesn't take the shot, while the virtual button works every time.;)

Kind of a useless feature, huh?
I'm all for a dedicated camera button,
but if it's just going to blur the pics or NOT WORK AT ALL....
it's just another way to bring the phone's screen out of sleep, imo.
In fact, that's ALL I use it for now.

Ya I would be interested in that. I thought there was something wrong with my phone when light just switched on. An app or something would be nice.
