For some reason, my camera app won't open half the time. It will just go black for a second, then back to my home screen. Sometimes it works though, but that is less often.
I had that issue. Try going into your gallery and see if there are any corrupted photos. This has happened to me a few times and every time there is a black photo that I delete and suddenly the camera works.
