Camera not working.

MetroPCS version.

I didn't ever use the camera until today but it is not working.

I have done the following:
I received the phone with 12b. Reverted back to 10i. Then upgrade with root to 12b.

I have tried reset to factory, flashing 10i again but the camera still doesn't work. What are some other suggestions? The phone is 1 week old and only today did I want to take a photo with it and noticed that it cannot swap to the rear camera nor can the cam app activate the camera.

I ran into the same problem when I flashed the SD card memory hack after rooting 12b.

I couldn't get the camera to work so I used KDZ to get back to 10i to try the process over again but once I got back to 10i the camera still did not work. Once I updated to 12b the camera started working but when I flashed the SD card memory hack again it made the camera stop working. I ran through the process again and instead of using the SD card memory hack I'm using Link2SD, plus I'm able to use the freedom kernel which improves the overall speed of the phone. Everything is working great at the moment including the camera.

Not sure if this helps you at all but I wanted to share my experience with the camera not working.

What do you mean the SD card memory hack? I have always used link2sd. Maybe KDZing from 12b to 10i messes the camera up?

So the working combination for you is 12b and link2sd?

I think the overclock kernel is amazing. So much faster. I'm on the 10i kernel though. Can I still upgrade to 12b? I mean I can later flash the 12b overclock kernel but should I upgrade first to give it a try and then flash the 12b kernel?

Here's a brief rundown of the steps in order...

1. downgrade to firmware 10i
2. root 10i
3. use ota root keeper to backup root
4. ota update to firmware 12b
5. use ota root keeper to restore root on 12b
6. (optional) install custom rom
7. (optional) install custom kernel
8. setup link2sd

I know the steps. So the loss of camera is expected after step 2? I actually think I did upgrade to 12b and I still did not get the camera back but I have gone back to 10i (even tried 10e) so let me try going to 10i, upgrading to 12i to see if I can get the camera back.

These are the steps that I followed to get everything working.

Once I upgraded to 12b using ota update I got the camera back.

Thanks guys! I rested, reflashed 10i, rooted, updated via OTA and the camera is back!!!! So stoked. With the freedom kernel and link2sd, it's going to be legendary.
